POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
DP House, a full service literary publishing agency, is looking to expand, and seeking dedicated literary/publishing agents to join our team. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sells publishing services by understanding and demonstrating characteristics, capabilities, and features of publishing packages; developing and qualifying authors; closing sales.
Understands publishing services by studying characteristics, capabilities, and features; comparing and contrasting competitive packages; inspecting services.
Develops authors by maintaining rapport with previous customers; suggesting upsells; meeting prospects at community activities; greeting drop-ins; responding to inquiries; recommending sales campaigns and promotions.
Qualifies authors by understanding author requirements and interests for book publishing; matching requirements and interests to various services and packages; building rapport.
Demonstrates services and packages by explaining characteristics, capabilities, and features; showcasing examples of work for previous and current clientele; explaining packages and services.
Closes sales by overcoming objections; asking for sales; negotiating price; completing sales or purchase contracts; explaining provisions; explaining and offering services and financing; collects payment; walks with the new DP House author through the entire publishing process until project is completed and book or service[s] is delivered.
Provides sales management information by completing reports.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Enhances publishing agency’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
